Activities

On behalf and for the account of state, SID Bank provides services of export credits and investment insurance and interest rate equalization programme. The main activity provided for its own account is financing of business transactions in the area of market gaps (SME, research, environment, internationalization etc.). SID Bank acquires resources mainly through borrowing on foreign financial markets on its own behalf and for its own account, as well as with the guarantee of the Republic of Slovenia. Possibility of this type of borrowing provides Slovene economy an opportunity to acquire competitive financial resources, which ensures directly or indirectly support of development and penetration onto foreign markets.

For its own account SID Bank carries out the following activities:

  • provides financing of business transactions in compliance with the Slovene Export and Development Bank Act (ZSIRB),
  • issues guaranties,
  • enters into transactions with the instruments of monetary, currency, capital and derivative markets,
  • issues credit reports and other credit information.

With the help of various financial instruments SID Bank promotes projects of banks and companies, the objective of which is:

  • development of small and medium enterprises,
  • development of internationalization,
  • support of investments in research and development of technological environment and technology,
  • realization of environment-protection projects and waste disposal,
  • support of projects in the field of power supply and renewable energy resources,
  • increase of competitiveness of Slovene economy and growth of innovative environment,
  • improvement of traffic and municipal infrastructure,
  • support of public institutions (communities, districts, regions),
  • development of public-private partnership projects.

In the name of the Republic of Slovenia SID Bank as the authorised export-credit agency (ECA) provides:

  • short-term export credit insurance against non-commercial and other non-marketable risks,
  • investment insurance against non-commercial risks,
  • medium-term export credit insurance against commercial and/or non-commercial risks,
  • Interest Rate Equalization Programme in financing of international commercial transactions and
  • other transactions on special authorisation.
