Financial services for development, research, technology, education, employment

With its financial services SID Bank supports investments in research and development of technological environment and technology.

Financing is available in domestic currency (EUR) or foreign currency (USD), in which case SID Bank:

  • refinances credits of banks and other financial institutions,
  • co-finances transactions and investments or
  • SID Bank finances directly.

SID bank carries out financing of these projects through commercial banks. All the Slovene companies (small, medium and large) are eligible for these resources.

For small and medium enterprises SID Bank has developed two special products for financing of these projects:

  • Financing of SMEs' investments in research, development and innovation,
  • Sharing of risks arising from financing of SMEs' investments in research, development and innovation.

Bridge financing and supplementary financing

Within the framework of SID Bank's supply of additional financing of the economy, in total amount of 474 millions of EUR (in two parts - December 2008 and January 2009), companies can also acquire through commercial banks the resources for purposes of bridge financing and supplementary financing. Within the framework of these purposes the companies can:

  • acquire financial resources for the time from approval of resources from public tender until the disbursement of funds  (bridge financing) or
  • finance the part of project not covered by resources acquired by public tender (supplementary financing), thus ensuring an adequate financial structure.

Financing is possible for the declared aims of economic incentives (entrepreneurship, SMEs, ...), research and development, environmental protection and energy efficiency, commercial and public infrastructure, community and regional development, as well as international business transactions (as long as the project in question is connected with pre-shipment or post-shipment of international business transactions).

These resources don't have the nature of state aid and are available under market conditions through cooperating agent – commercial banks. The final users may be companies, entrepreneurs and public entities with headquarters in the Republic of Slovenia. Resources can be used for financing of up to 80% of the investment and/or required current assets of the final user.
