The leading company of the group is SID – Slovenska eksportna a razvojna banka, d.d., Ljubljana, which is 100% owned by the Republic of Slovenia. History

SID Banka Through Time

Established in 1992 with the aim of securing and financing the export of Slovenian companies. Since then, we have grown and developed in line with the development of the Slovenian economy.

1992

Founded in 1992 as the Slovenian Export Company (SID). The operation of the SID was regulated by the Act on the Export Insurance and Financing Company of Slovenia.

2002

Acquisition of a 50% stake in PRVi FAKTOR.

2004

The Act on Insurance and Financing of International Economic Transactions enters into force with regulations governing the operation of insurance companies.

Establishment of PRO KOLEKT and separation of SID-PKZ.

2006

Co-establishment of the Centre for International Cooperation and Development (CMSR).

2007

With the approval of the Bank of Slovenia, it was transformed into a specialised bank with the name SID – Slovenian Export and Development Bank, d.d., Ljubljana (abbreviated: SID banka, d.d., Ljubljana).

2009

Recapitalisation of SID Bank due to its greater involvement in anti-crisis measures.

2012

Launch of the implementation of loan funds in cooperation with MGRT (to date 9 loan funds).

2014

SID Banka successfully passes the European Central Bank's pan-European stress tests.

2018

Issuance of Green Bonds to finance circular economy projects.

2020

Intervention and countercyclical action during the COVID epidemic. Establishment of an additional Fund of Funds due to the COVID epidemic.

2021

Expansion of the Slovenian capital growth investment programme (SEGIP) into SEGIP Top-up

2023

New funding programs SID Zelen and SID Digitalen.


Creation of two new funds of €100 million each.

2024

Application submitted as an implementing partner of the InvestEU Programme.


Issuance of private bonds on international markets in the amount of EUR 125 million.
